Visas can be categorized in two broad categories namely:
- (VTR) Visa without reference
- (VDR) Visa with reference
Visa without reference is visa approved by the High Commission of Malaysia/ Consulate General of Malaysia for social, tourist or business visits.
Visa with reference is approved by the Immigration Department of Malaysia or the Ministry of Home Affairs for the purpose of working, studying or social visits for a stay more than the allowed period under visa without reference.

Application Submission Procedure
Submit your passport application in person
If you submit your application in person, you must bring the below documents with you:-
- The original passport and old passport (if any).
- Photo as specification.
- Copy of all documents in A4 (prefer in color)

Using a representative / travel agent
If you plan to use a representative/travel agent to submit your visa application on your behalf:-
- The original passport and old passport (if any).
- Photo as specification.
- Copy of all documents in A4 (prefer in color).
- You are requested to provide individual authorization letters, signed by the respective applicants.
- Representative original National ID card or other official proof of identification containing a photograph.
- A copy of your representative photographic ID.
- For VTR applications, applicants are required to come to VIMA Center in person.

You will receive an electronic visa (eVisa) Single Entry Visa (SEV).
We advise you to apply for your eVisa at least 2 weeks prior your departure to Malaysia.

No. eVisa does not guarantee your entry to Malaysia as it is subjected to the approval of the Immigration Department of Malaysia Entry Exit Points.
All eVisa applications are considered on individual merit and the High Commission / Embassy / Consulate has the right to seek additional information at any stage of processing. The fact that an application for a visa have been received by the eVisa system does not guarantee that the eVisa will be issued. High Commission / Embassy / Consulate reserves the right to refuse an eVisa application without providing any reason.
All fees are non-refundable. The purchase of flight tickets and hotel reservations is the responsibility of all applicants. The Embassy and the Operating Agency (VIMA) will not be liable for any losses if the visa application is unsuccessful.
